A Phenomenological Study on the Stress Experiences of Counseling Trainees Who Participated in the Self-awareness Improvement Program Utilizing Integrated Art Therapy

Abstract
This study examined the stress experience, the phenomenon of the stress and the structure of the stress for counseling trainees who participated in the self-awareness promotion program utilizing integrated art therapy. To solve this research question, A total of eight sessions of self-awareness improvement program utilizing an integrated art therapy and three follow-up sessions was conducted. There are 120 minutes in a session. The interviews on the their stress experience through the awareness of 8 counseling trainees participated in the program was conducted. The contents of interviews were analyzed based on research and analysis method of the phenomenology of Giorgi(1970). As a result, it was organized as 122 meaning units. Based on this, 49 the clear meaning, the 13 themes, and 5 the main theme became derived. Findings are as follows. First, the 5 main themes were extracted: ¡®awareness of stress conditions¡¯, ¡®meta-cognition insight¡¯, ¡®changes in relationship¡¯, 'Changes in behavior', 'change in stress' Second, the 'awareness of the stress condition' affect all of the other main meaning and 'meta-cognition insights' and the ¡®change of human-perspective¡¯ plays a role as mediating factors, 'Changes in behavior' and the 'change in stress' were interact with each other with receiving the effect of different main means. Third, the themes included in main meanings were interact each other. Finally, the suggestions for a follow-up study was discussed based on the results and discussions of the study.
